Principal's Welcome

I joined Immanuel as a teacher in 2001 and my oldest child started here as a new entrant in 2002.  My first impression of the school was of the friendly, family atmosphere and polite, happy students.  Staff and students related well together and students were motivated and conscientious in class.   I am pleased to say that these qualities have been a constant feature of Immanuel Christian School and are retained today.   Prior to teaching at Immanuel, I spent seven years teaching at two large state schools.   The differences I encountered when I began teaching at Immanuel were like a breath of fresh air and I was quite overwhelmed.   I believe teachers, probably more than any other group in society, recognise the huge impact that school atmosphere has on the education and upbringing of students.

Immanuel is a strong Christian community with a central goal of supporting parents in their quest to raise their children according to the ways of the Lord.   Enrolling your child or children at Immanuel Christian School has many benefits, the greatest of which is the opportunity for your child to receive one single, consistent Christian message, in line with that taught from home and from church.   Writing as a parent and as a school principal, I cannot emphasise the value of a consistent Christian message highly enough, both taught overtly through a Christian curriculum and modelled covertly by high-calibre Christlike staff.   Students are taught to think and act according to a Biblical worldview.  It is tragic that so many young people are taught from home and church that Jesus is Lord and that God is central to our lives, yet they are sent to schools where the opposite is taught, both overtly and in subtle ways.

Immanuel families come from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities.   We are a conservative, evangelical, interdenominational school with students from about 25 different evangelical churches.  Students travel from Hillsborough, Mt Albert, Lynfield, Titirangi, Blockhouse Bay, Glen Eden, Henderson, Oratia and Te Atatu.  We emphasise academic excellence and believe the ultimate academic success occurs when Christ is central to learning.   We encourage and equip our students to make a full effort in all areas of school life including academic pursuits, sporting endeavours, mission opportunities and all other activities.   Please see the statistics on our website showcasing our NCEA results over recent years and let the numbers speak for themselves.

I invite you to make a time to come and view our school and talk with me about how we can serve you and your family.
