The early Secondary years are vital for the social, academic and spiritual welfare of every child. Immanuel staff seek to cultivate each child’s spiritual development, so that successful academic achievement is coupled with Christian virtue. Senior students at Immanuel are to be an example to the younger children. We see the fostering of responsibility and care towards the younger children as a practical outworking of their developing faith.
Field trips, drama opportunities, speech competitions and sporting fixtures with other schools are valued aspects of the Immanuel curriculum and are important to student development. The central North Island Field Trip and our annual Cornwallis Picnic provide important informal social learning. Immanuel’s culture is one of challenge, participation and encouragement, which provides a healthy platform for students to ‘safely’ extend themselves among their peers.
Students sit externally written standardised tests on a regular basis. Examples include the nationally recognised Progressive Achievement Test, and ‘Australian Schools’ - (ICAS) exams. Our small class sizes allow programmes to be tailored to suit individual requirements. Students at Immanuel are keen to learn and spur one another on to achieve their potential. We provide a broad based curriculum, as outlined below.
