Past Pupil's reflection

Anna Kang

The four years (2002-2006) I spent at Immanuel Christian School were pivotal in directing and shaping my journey, and who I am in Christ.  Although I was initially deterred by its small size, I slowly began to realise how great a loss it would've been if I hadn't become part of the Immanuel community.  The two main reasons why I'm glad to have studied at Immanuel are:  firstly, receiving consistent one-to-one teaching, and secondly, the ten day Fiji mission trip that challenged me spiritually and produced life-long friendships.  It was at this mission trip that I determined to pursue a career in Medicine.  I am currently a fourth year (University of Auckland) medical student, have started my clincial rounds

in hospital, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it!

All effort was made so that students were able to reach their potential at Immanuel.   For example, after-school tutoring by a top Cambridge student was provided in addition to regular teaching, enhancing everyone's opportunity to learn and grow.  I was able to reach my goal in achieving all A grades for the Cambridge curriculum in 2006.  The guided teaching and work ethic encouraged by the teachers also established a solid foundation from which I could adjust to University life.  The theological discussions we held each morning explored Biblical context and God's relationship with humanity.  This is the kind of material we hunger and long for in the 'real world.'  The prayer, support and preparation I received at Immanuel helped me personally mould my faith, renew my thinking, and build my heart on the reality of Christ.  This is especially important when my beliefs are questioned by people and experiences I encounter.  I would never hesitate to recommend Immanuel to anyone desiring high-quality education, empowered by prayer and God's tangible blessings.  Immanuel is a place where students are drawn together to grow stronger and serve in hope, to meet the world in its fullness and its need.
